On March 31 local time, US President Trump said that the United States would end the war against Iran in two to three weeks and claimed that this move would help lower the current high energy prices. Trump said that the current goal of the US side is to "completely destroy the remaining military capabilities of Iran", including missile facilities and related infrastructure, and indicated that the US might leave Iran in "two to three weeks", but did not rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement through negotiations before that. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz issue, Trump said that the US does not plan to continue to bear the main security responsibility in the future and believes that the safety of shipping should be the responsibility of the countries using the waterway, including France. Trump also said that the US has "significantly weakened" Iran and claimed that its military system, communication capabilities and air defense systems have all been severely hit.
